A Few Quick Magic Tricks

A Few Quick Magic Tricks

Card Levitation

Effect:

The magician puts 1 or 4 cards under his hand. He slowly lifts his hand and the cards float with his hand. Holding his hand above the table, the magician pulls the cards of his hand and drops them on the table.

You will need a ring, matchstick, card(s)

Secret:

1. Put the ring on your middle finger. Then put the matchstick under the ring so that both sides of the match stick out.

2. Place your hand palms down on the table and place a card under your palm but above the matchstick. You need to practice this move to make it look like your just placing a card under your palm not above a matchstick.

3. Now you can lift your hand from the table. Press your fingers down a little on the back of the cards, they will remain in position.

Open Sesame

Deal out 3 piles of seven cards face down. Ask a spectator to choose a pile. You then pick up the pile that the spectator selected and display the cards in a fan facing the audience. (It is not necessary for you to see the front of the cards.) Then ask the spectator to look at the cards and choose one, instructing them not to tell you which card they choose.

1) Put the cards that the spectator chose face down in between the other two piles to make one pile of 21 cards.

2) Deal out the cards one at a time into 3 piles of seven moving left to right.

3) Pick up each pile individually and then display the cards to the volunteer asking them to indicate which of the piles contains the chosen card. (They must not name their selected card).

Repeat steps 1 to 3 one more time.

After the steps are completed say the magic words "OPEN SESAME". You then pick up the pile of 21 cards and spell O-P-E-N-S-E-S-A-M-E by placing one card face down on the table per each letter spelled. Turn up the next card after spelling OPEN SESAME to reveal their selected card.

Magic Trick

Magic Trick

My interest in magic tricks started at an early age. I remember sitting in front of the television watching the magic specials. I would watch the magician as he performed his tricks, all the while trying to figure out how he did it.

As I grew older I began to want to learn magic tricks, so I picked up a few books at my local library and delved into learning as many magic tricks as I could. The library is an excellent source of information about magic tricks by the way.

Then I learned about the International Brotherhood of Magicians. They have local chapters all over the globe. Every chapter holds meeting where members perform magic tricks and even teach a few of them.

Another valuable resource that I found was the local magic shop. Here they have all kinds of magic tricks for sale. Not only do they sell magic tricks, but they also sell instructional products as well. At my local shop the owners will even demonstrate different magic tricks so you can see how they are performed.

So in conclusion, some valuable resources to check out while trying to learn magic tricks are your local library, your local magic shop, and even the internet. Also, check out your local chapter of IBM as it is also a good resource. Learning magic tricks can be both fun and rewarding.
